California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation website provides access to Title 15 regulations, rehabilitation services, parole and prison information, and other resources.

California Prison Health Care Services

The California Prison Health Care Services web site is hosted by a nonprofit organization created to house the activities of the federal Receiver. The Receivership was established by Senior District Judge Thelton E. Henderson as the result of a 2001 class action law suit (Plata v. Schwarzenegger) brought against the State of California over the quality of medical care in the state’s 33-prison system. The website provides updates and information about the activities of the Receivership team’s plans for addressing issues affecting the quality of, and access to, medical care for California’s approximately 175,000 adult inmate patients.

The Prison Law Office provides free legal services to California state prisoners, and occasionally to California state parolees.

ACLU’s National Prison Project

The ACLU’s National Prison Project focuses on conditions in the nation’s prisons, jails, juvenile facilities and immigration detention centers.
