The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California is seeking a Courtroom Deputy in San Jose, California. The courtroom deputy clerk provides administrative support in and out of the courtroom to District Court Judge Eumi Lee. This position calls for accuracy, diplomacy, and sensitivity in dealing with judges, attorneys, members of government agencies, and the general public. Successful courtroom deputy clerks work with meticulous attention to detail, create systems to organize and prioritize tasks, and communicate with calm and confidence. Periodically, other duties may be assigned. Priority consideration to applicants who apply by April 26, 2024.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California is seeking a Divisional Office Supervisor in San Jose, California. The incumbent will assist the Divisional Manager in the oversight and coordination of all functions in the Divisional office including intake, docketing, appeals, finance, procurement, jury and courtroom operations. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing work, and establishing policies and procedures to ensure excellent customer service and efficient processing of documents.

The incumbent will implement, coordinate, monitor, and improve a variety of functions of the court unit by understanding the needs and priorities of the office. The incumbent will simultaneously work with multiple priorities and projects. Most of the work process is well-defined, although meeting the demands of judicial officers, with occasional staffing limitations, requires good judgment and initiative. The incumbent will provide assistance in formulation and implementation of office policy which entails the need to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. The incumbent deals with the judges, the courtroom deputies, chambers staff, and other members of the Clerk’s Office staff on a daily basis. The incumbent will also work with employees of other court offices and court-related agencies. Occasional oral and written communications with the public are required. Solicitation for Court Reporting Services Blanket Purchase Agreement (.pdf, 223 KB)

This is a solicitation for proposals to enter into a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for contracting court reporting services for the United States District Court - Northern District of California. The Court intends to award BPAs to one or more court reporters found to meet the court’s qualifications.

The Court reserves the right not to make any awards as a result of this solicitation. Award of a BPA does not guarantee that the contractor will receive orders for any particular aggregate dollar value, or in fact that any orders at all, for court reporting services.

Contractors responding to this solicitation should carefully review the Statement of Work, the minimum qualifications required, the court’s maximum transcript fee rates (non-negotiable including real-time feeds), and the BPA terms and conditions, all of which will be incorporated into any Blanket Purchase Agreement awarded under this solicitation.

Contractors wishing to be considered for this BPA must complete and return the pages in the attachment CAND_CR_BPA_Form_Fillable. Note, for each prospective contract court reporter, a minimum of 3 references must be identified for whom the reporter has performed work within 3-year period.

Please note that at this time our need is for in-person, not remote contract court reporters. Occasionally accommodation for remote reporting might occur but it will be offered only to those who are willing to provide in-person reporting.

The solicitation will be open for the period of March 28, 2024 through April 12, 2024. All forms must be submitted by 2:00 PM on April 12th. The contract period will run May 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025.
