Seeking Public Comment on Proposed Changes to Civil Local Rule 10

The Judges of the United States District Court, Northern District of California, have approved proposed substantive modifications to Civil Local Rule 10 (to be titled Civil Local Rule 15). 

Pursuant to Civil L.R. 83-2(b), public comments on the proposed modification may be submitted to media@cand.uscourts.gov until Monday, September 28, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.

The proposed amendment modifies the procedure for moving to file amended pleadings, requiring parties to attach the proposed pleading and a redline comparison to the prior version, establishing specific deadlines for filing and service, and adding explanatory commentary clarifying the rule's scope.
