Category:

The United States District Court for the Northern District of California announces the reappointment of Laurel Beeler as a full-time U.S. Magistrate Judge. Judge Beeler has been reappointed to an eight-year term beginning January 4, 2026, following the expiration of her current term. Her duty station will remain in San Francisco.

Judge Beeler was first appointed to the bench in 2010. Before her appointment, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District, prosecuting complex white-collar cases with parallel civil components. She was the Office’s Professional Responsibility Officer and supervised the Criminal Division. She was a law clerk to the Honorable Cecil F. Poole, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She trained as a mediator with the Northern District’s ADR Program, the Federal Judicial Center, and Harvard Law School.

“Emblematic of the high quality of the Magistrate Judges’ bench in the Northern District, Judge Beeler’s acceptance of reappointment is good news for our legal community,” said Chief Judge Seeborg.

The Northern District of California currently has 13 full-time Magistrate Judge positions. Magistrate Judges preside over civil cases by party consent, conduct preliminary proceedings in criminal matters, handle misdemeanor cases, and manage various pretrial matters in civil litigation.

The Court congratulates Judge Beeler on her reappointment and thanks her for her continued service.
