Update on Court Proceedings, Operations, and Safety Protocols (February 3, 2023)
The Northern District of California currently conducts both in-person and remote proceedings in all of its divisional offices. The court follows CDC guidance regarding its COVID-19 safety protocols. Masking inside the courthouse is determined by the level of community transmission of COVID-19. When a county where a Northern District of California divisional office is located moves to high community transmission, masking will be required in the courthouse.
Mask requirements for individual courtrooms continue to be determined by the assigned judge.
Intake counters and public terminals at each divisional courthouse are currently open Monday – Friday, from 9:00AM – 1:00PM. Effective, March 13, 2023 Intake hours will return to 9:00AM – 4:00PM.
Drop boxes will remain available while public counters are open. The San Francisco courthouse drop box has been relocated to the 16th Floor.
