Formal investiture ceremony for Federal Public Defender Jodi Linker
A formal investiture ceremony for Federal Public Defender Jodi Linker will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. in the Ceremonial Courtroom on the 19th Floor of the U.S. District Court, Phillip Burton Federal Building, 450 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, California.
On March 4, 2022, Jodi H. Linker was sworn in as the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of California in a private ceremony at the San Francisco federal district courthouse. The ceremony on April 20 will be a public recognition of Ms. Linker’s appointment.
This is a memorable occasion for the Federal Defender’s Office, the second oldest in the country, which is celebrating 50 years of service to the Northern District of California. Linker is the first woman to hold the position in this Office’s history.
The oath of office will be administered by Chief District Judge Richard Seeborg. The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, will deliver pre-recorded remarks commemorating the investiture.
Linker began working in the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of California in 2007 as an Assistant Federal Public Defender. She is a regular presenter at criminal defense training seminars locally and nationally and has been a guest lecturer at Stanford Law School and Hastings College of Law. Previously, Linker was an associate in the private sector in San Francisco and worked as an advisor to United States Senator Barbara Boxer. Linker served as a law clerk for District Judge Charles R. Breyer of the U.S. District Court and an extern for the Honorable Judge Susan Illston, both serving the Northern District of California.
